See all the castIt is well known that Moon-dwellers are called the Selenites. What many people are unaware of is that love and ambition do not exit among them. Selenites are thus extremely surprised when three Earth-people, the prince Caprice, the king V’lan and Microscope the astronomer, land on the Moon. Their food supplies — elixirs and apples — will soon have a devastating impact...
This Offenbach Opéra-féérie, inspired by two novels of Jules Verne, From the Earth to the Moon and Journey to the centre of the Earth, was a tremendous success in 1875: compelling songs, enchanting or humorous ballets, lively choirs and a procession of amazing characters set a richly plotted story, which ends on a wonderful Earth-light.
Laurent Pelly, Agathe Mélinand and Alexandra Cravero adapted this exceptional operatic piece to the Salle Favart as well as to the many talents of the Opéra Comique’s Maîtrise Populaire led by Franck Leguérinel.
Created in camera during the pandemic, this great musical comedy will finally meet its audiences in 2023; its music, creativity and great spirit will dazzle young and old.
Opéra-féérie in four acts. Libretto by Albert Vanloo, Eugène Leterrier and Arnold Mortier. Created in 1875 at the Théâtre de la Gaité.
