The Opéra-Comique joins forces with The Juilliard School and the Villa Albertine for this international programme of educational and cultural exchange.

Over the course of two years, singers from the Académie de l’Opéra-Comique and Juilliard’s Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts will come together in Paris and New York for masterclasses, coaching sessions and joint concerts. The partnership was launched in March 2026 with a masterclass led by Louis Langrée at the Villa Albertine, at the Payne Whitney Mansion in New York, focusing on the French repertoire. An inaugural exchange residency in May 2026 brought together two singers and a pianist from each institution for recitals held at the Salle Favart on 5 May and at Juilliard on 14 May 2026.

The second highlight of this exchange will take place in March 2027, with two weeks of joint work between Paris and New York. At the Foyer de l’Opéra-Comique on 12 and 13 March, young artists from both institutions will share a programme designed as a mirror image: French mélodie and American art song, a dialogue between two vocal traditions and two schools of interpretation. A masterclass by Louis Langrée on 11 March will extend the collaboration with Juilliard students visiting Paris.

For the artists at Campus Favart, the challenge is twofold: to tackle a less frequently performed repertoire and to forge lasting links with one of the most renowned institutions in the international conservatoire world. For the audience, it is an opportunity to hear emerging voices at work, in the intimate setting of the Foyer.
