BETWEEN BEIJING AND PARIS

The partnership that started between the Beijing Music Festival (BMF) and the Opéra Comique in 2018 should have come to fruition this year, but the global pandemic determined otherwise.

Our Franco-Chinese Carmen will only come to life in 2023, but Beijing-based audiences have already had the pleasure to discover the Salle Favart and its repertoire virtually, thanks to digital broadcasting. The film, dedicated to the Opéra Comique, was a great opportunity to get acquain ed with Adrian Noble and John Eliot Gardiner’s heroine, among others.

2021 will materialise the partnership between Beijing and Paris with the 24th edition of the BMF, which will take place in October, and will present Cyril Teste’s revival of Hamlet, created at the Opéra Comique in 2018. The event will surely nurture professional exchanges between the two institutions, in particular around video work. Musical masterclasses will also be on the agenda.
