Yoga set to music

Come along in your yoga gear, with your mat, for a class set to music in the magnificent setting of the Foyer, beneath the ceiling painted by Albert Maignan and the gilded bronze chandeliers by Christofle.

Whilst the stage pit is undergoing modernisation, the Foyer of the Opéra-Comique is reinventing itself as a laboratory for new experiences. While the stage is being transformed, the grand Foyer is opening its doors to other uses. Yoga to music is one of them.

Every other Saturday between January and May 2027, at midday, the Foyer hosts a guided session accompanied by live music. An hour to experience the space in a different way, beneath the ceiling painted by Albert Maignan and the gilded bronze chandeliers by Maison Christofle. The Belle Époque décor, designed for strolling and conversation during the intervals, becomes the setting for a moment of re-centring, attentive to breath and movement.

This proposal is in keeping with the spirit of the 2026–2027 season. Whilst renovation work is underway, the Opéra-Comique is temporarily leaving the Salle Favart and inviting audiences to discover the theatre from different angles, including those that usually remain in the background.

The Foyer is no longer merely a place to pass through between acts: it becomes a space for shared practice, where music accompanies the body rather than the performance. A way of extending the theatre’s mission, which is to share and bring opera to life beyond the stage, by making it part of the daily lives of those who walk through its doors.

The session is open to everyone, from beginners to experienced practitioners. All you need to do is come along in comfortable clothing and bring your own mat.
