Once upon a time, there was a young man named Peter who was tormented by unspeakable anguish... Raised by a mother steeped in superstition, Peter sought solace that neither his friend Clara nor the real world seemed able to offer him. Perhaps he could find it among the spirits of the forest and the night?

Inspired by a romantic tale by Wilhelm Hauff, Daniel Arkadij Gerzenberg's libretto unfolds a dream with very contemporary resonances: trauma, beliefs, relationship with nature, between alienation and mysticism.

A major figure in contemporary music, Matthias Pintscher, composer of the work, conducts the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, with staging by James Darrah Black.
