Franco-American educational and cultural exchange partnership between the Opéra-Comique, the Juilliard School and the Villa Albertine
In 2026, Louis Langrée, Director of the Opéra-Comique, established the Campus Favart, a programme combining two initiatives aimed at young people: the Académie and the Maîtrise Populaire. The Campus Favart gives structure to the Opéra-Comique’s mission of passing on its heritage and aims to train the artists, professionals and audiences who will shape the opera of tomorrow.
This partnership with The Juilliard School and the Villa Albertine marks the first international exchange programme at the Campus Favart. It aims to promote Franco-American educational and cultural exchanges. Over the next two years, singers from the Académie de l’Opéra-Comique and Juilliard’s Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts will take part in masterclasses, coaching sessions and joint concerts in New York and Paris.
In May 2026, a two-week exchange programme will bring together two singers and a pianist from each institution for recitals of French and American music. Concerts will take place at the Opéra-Comique in Paris on 5 May, followed by a performance at The Juilliard School in New York on 14 May. The programme will continue and expand in 2027.
