Originally from Normandy, Sabine Devieilhe is now one of the most sought-after coloratura sopranos of her generation and performs regularly on the world’s leading opera stages. After studying cello and musicology, she trained in voice at the CNSMD in Paris. She was quickly invited to the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence to perform the role of Serpetta in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera, before making her debut at the Opéra de Lyon as the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte).
Since then, she has performed at major venues such as the Opéra national de Paris, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Vienna State Opera, the Zurich Opera House, La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and the Bavarian State Opera, as well as at festivals such as Glyndebourne and Salzburg. During the 2025–2026 season, she will notably perform as Dalinda in Handel’s Ariodante and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at the Paris National Opera, and will reunite with Jakub Józef Orliński for a European tour of Handel’s Giulio Cesare with the Ensemble Pomo d’Oro in the role of Cleopatra. In the summer of 2026, she returns to the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence to reprise the role of the Queen of the Night.
A frequent concert performer, Sabine Devieilhe regularly collaborates with the Ensemble Pygmalion, led by Raphaël Pichon. Her recent projects include Britten’s Les Illuminations with the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski, as well as her debut with Sir Simon Rattle and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Mozart’s Idomeneo (Ilia), released on CD in 2025.
In recital, she maintains a close collaboration with pianist Mathieu Pordoy, with whom she performs regularly throughout Europe. Together, they released their album dedicated to the lieder of Mozart and Strauss in 2024 on Erato/Warner Classics, the label with which Sabine Devieilhe has been an exclusive artist since 2012.
