In 2021, the Opéra Comique will pursue its societal projects in favour of accessibility and inclusion. These projects have already been awarded the ‘Diversity’ and ‘Equality between Men and Women’ labels by the AFNOR in both 2018 and 2020, which encourages the Opéra Comique to keep on supporting its staff (remuneration, recruitment, training) and its audiences (accessibility, inclusion, social and cultural plans).

DEVELOPING INCLUSIVE SCHEMES ADAPTED TO VARIOUS DISABILITIES

CULTURAL PLANS FOR FAMILIES AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATIONS

> Touring performances in Ile-de-France schools including REP5 and REP+6 schools (Petite Balade aux Enfers, Don Quichotte, j’étoilerai le vent qui passe)
> A three year partnership with Poissy’ citizens and associations, which will lead, in 2021, to a creation jointly drafted with stage director Valerie Lessort.
> Enrolment of pupils for the Opéra Comique’s Maîtrise Populaire: 300 to 500 Year 5 children / 4th graders are auditioned every year in REP and REP+ schools of the Parisian area in order to promote social diversity among its 120 pupils aged 8 to 25.
> Many plans and projects created in partnership with community relays and associations in Ile-de-France to facilitate the access to the opera-house for schools groups and disadvantaged groups.
SUPPORTING YOUNG TALENTS AND PROMOTING EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
> Creation of the Malvina and Denise Menda scholarships, awarded every year by the Fondation de France and the Opéra Comique to young opera singers, based on both social criteria and artistic excellence.
> Social diversity in the Opéra Comique’s classrooms of the Maîtrise Populaire, which has become a self-assertion driver lever as well as a lever for societal integration and against school drop-out.
> Proliferation of innovative teaching methodologies among teachers of the Maîtrise Populaire.
