Both baritone and tenor, Marc Mauillon adapts his voice to the songs and the characters he performs: Papageno in The Magic Flute, Bobinet in La Vie parisienne, Mercure in Orpheus in the Underworld, the Husband in Poulenc’s Mamelles de Tirésias, Momo in L’Orfeo by Rossi, Tisiphone in Hippolyte et Aricie, the Sorcerer in Dido and Aeneas, the title-roles of Cavali’s Egisto, Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, Blow’s Adonis, Pélée in Alcyone by Marais, Raulito in Cachafaz by Strasnoy. 

His concert repertoire includes Court arias (Lambert, Charpentier, Bacilly) as well as French petits or grands motets (Charpentier, Lully, Rameau, Desmarest, Campra, Couperin), Italian madrigal (Monteverdi, Gesualdo), sacred or profane cantatas (Bach, Haendel, Vivaldi, Telemann, Monteclair, Clérambault), programmes of medieval or Renaissance music. Recital and chamber music have a prominent place in his career. In 2016 he created Songline, a monodic recital sung a cappella in movements and lights. 

More recently, he has sung in Caen in the revival of Alcyone, in tour with the Arts Florissants for the Monteverdi’s Selva Morale, in Mexico for Les Cris de Paris in Handel’s Israel in Egypt, in Salzbourg with Marc Minkowski in La Périchole, at the Opéra national de Bordeaux in The Tales of Hoffmann, at the Versailles Opéra Royal in Psyché, at the Danemark Royal Opera and the Opéra Comique in L’Orfeo, at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse in Fauré’s Pénélope, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona in Platée, at the Opéra de Rouen, Opéra de Tours and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in La Vie parisienne, at the Opéra national de Montpellier in Pelléas et Mélisande

He recorded during spring 2018 Lambert’s Leçons de ténèbres (first cycle 1662-1963) which was released for the first time n CD (Harmonia Mundi). Marc Mauillon is also a teacher at the Sorbonne University.
