It is a 21st-century urban legend: one night, some children leave home without telling their parents, taking with them food, costumes, a stage and songs. At their stops along the way, they tell, through music, the story in which they are becoming the heroes. It is this journey of initiation that weaves the fabric of La Grande Affabulation, a production conceived by Geoffroy Jourdain and Benjamin Lazar for the choir members of the Opéra-Comique.

For these young performers, aged 12 to 23, the show weaves a rich tapestry of a world where the spirit of early musical fables meets that of processions, folk festivals and the Baroque repertoire, as well as other modern and contemporary music gathered along the way.

Premiered at the Opéra-Comique in May 2025, the production was recorded and is now available on OperaVision.

Musical direction, Geoffroy Jourdain • Direction, Benjamin Lazar • Choir Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra-Comique Orchestra Les Cris de Paris

The broadcast will be available on OperaVision from 27 March 2026 at 7.00 pm, and will remain available to watch on demand until 27 September 2026 at 12.00 pm. On the platform, La Grande Affabulation is presented with subtitles in French and English.
