Originally from south-western France, Mathieu Pordoy is a pianist, recitalist and vocal coach who graduated with honours from the Paris Conservatoire. A accomplished and renowned artist, he excels both on stage and behind the scenes.
A sought-after recital partner, he performs regularly with soprano Sabine Devieilhe; and their latest album of Mozart and Strauss lieder, released by Erato, has been very well received (TTTT Télérama, Diamant de l'Opéra, CD of the month Opernwelt, etc.). Sabine and Mathieu form a close-knit duo that has performed on numerous stages, including Carnegie Hall, Musikverein Wien, Wigmore Hall London, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and Philharmonie de Berlin.
He has also been a regular accompanist to tenor Michael Spyres for several years, since their first recital at the Opéra de Bordeaux, which led them to perform in Europe (Paris, Frankfurt, Rome), America (New York, Washington, Lanaudière) and Seoul.
With soprano Marina Rebeka, he has recorded an album of melodies entitled Voyage(s) for the Prima Classic label in association with the Palazzetto Bru-Zane, alongside their regular recitals (Teatro Real in Madrid, Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow live on Rossiya TV, Salle Gaveau in Paris, Palau de les Arts in Valencia, etc.).
He has also collaborated with tenor Benjamin Bernheim for a remarkable recital at the Salzburg Festival and the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, with soprano Diana Damrau in Hong Kong, and with tenor Pene Pati in Aix-en-Provence and Bordeaux.
In opera, Mathieu is an accomplished vocal coach, recognised among other things as a specialist in the French repertoire, which he has performed in the world's greatest theatres: the Vienna State Opera, Zurich Opera, Paris Opera, the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, and the Monte Carlo Opera, working with eminent conductors such as François-Xavier Roth, Fabio Luisi, Mikko Franck, John Eliot Gardiner, Louis Langrée, and Michele Mariotti.
With a keen interest in teaching and passing on his knowledge, he is invited to mentor young singers in Canada, Russia, and regularly at the Académie de l'Opéra National de Paris. He is also the artistic coordinator of the Académie de l'Opéra Comique.
Mathieu currently holds the position of casting advisor for the Opéra National du Rhin and the Opéra-Comique in Paris, where he also supervises the Académie.
