After training at the Royal Swedish Ballet School, Oscar Salomonsson was employed by the Royal Swedish Ballet from 1997 to 2023. In 2004, he joined the Compaña Nacional de Danza in Madrid, before returning to Sweden in 2007. In 2009, he was named Dancer of the Year, and in 2012 Principal Dancer. In 2019 he was awarded the Gunilla Roempke Scholarship and in 2023 the Carl Åkerman Prize from the Royal Swedish Academy. At the Royal Swedish Opera, he has worked with A. Ekman in Escapist (title role), with M. Ek in Swan Lake (Red Berta), Julia & Romeo (Mercutio), and Rättika, and with P. Isberg in The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (Quasimodo), among others.

Other important roles include the princes in Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Cinderella, the chosen one in The Rite of Spring, and the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. Oscar Salomonsson also performs at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in M. Ek's Solo for two, and at the Orionteatern in A. Ekman's Kuckel. He is also involved in the children's show Snö at Dockteatern Tittut. As an actor, he played in R. Andersson's film Un pigeon perché sur une branche philosophait sur l'existence (Golden Lion for Best Film at the 2014 Venice Film Festival).
