Produced by the Opéra Comique in January 2020 in the Pompidou Centre’s parking lot as the highlight of the retrospective “Faire son temps” , Fosse is a 2 singular project which Christian Boltanski conceived as a link between the visible world and the sensitive one.

As a prelude to this homage, Annette Messenger has wished to re-enact the experience of absolute, timeless art, immersing the visitors in a mysterious orphic world.

Imagined by the composer Franck Krawczyk and the lighting designer Jean Kalman, Fosse has no end nor beginning, allowing anyone to pick up the threads of a story.

Lights, wandering souls, musicians and actors bring this opera of a new genre to life, embedding the movements of the audience to the creation and transforming the Pompidou Centre’s parking lot into a dantesque den resounding with the voices of the soprano Karen Vourc’h and twenty-eight singers of the Accentus ensemble, the music of thirteen cellos, including Sonia Wieder-Atherton, six pianos, percussions and an electric guitare. Artistic coordination by Plein Jour.

With the support of the Galerie Marian Goodman.
