Michele Taborelli was born in Milan in 1991. After classical studies, he graduated in piano at the Conservatorio G. Cantelli in Novara and in architecture at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio.

Already during his studies, he developed a particular interest in scenography, especially the relationship between sound and stage space: after an initial experience in the film industry with Marco Bellocchio, he began working for several opera houses across Europe, including the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Staatstheater Stuttgart, the Dutch National Opera, the Opéra National de Paris and the Opéra de Lyon, collaborating with renowned scenographers and stage directors. In November 2023, he made his debut outside Europe as associate set designer to artist Anish Kapoor for Simon Boccanegra directed by Pierre Audi at the New National Theatre in Tokyo. A close artistic collaboration has created a strong bond between him and director Silvia Costa, with whom he has designed the sets for Julie at the Opéra National de Lorraine, L'Arche de Noé at the Opéra de Lyon and L'Orfeo at the Staatsoper Hannover, among others.

In addition to his work in the theatre, he is also involved in artistic direction, exhibition design and production.
