On the proposal of the Opéra Comique’s Director, Louis Langrée, the board of directors of the Théâtre National de l'Opéra-Comique has unanimously decided to appoint Nicolas Droin as Institutional Administrator and Deputy Director of the opera house. Nicolas Droin will take office at the beginning of 2023.

Thanks to his skills, experience and renown managerial and human qualities, Nicolas Droin will contribute to the acceleration of the implementation of the “Esprit Favart” project, alongside Louis Langrée, the theatre’s management team and their collaborators. His contribution will cover all aspects of the project and in particular its artistic development, the creation of the Académie, the expansion of the Maîtrise Populaire, the all-audiences access policy, the
consolidation of the Opéra Comique’s resources and all its societal initiatives.

Both the board of directors and Louis Langrée commend the upcoming arrival of Nicolas Droin and wish him all the best and success in his new responsibilities.

A graduate of the engineering school ISEP and of the ESSEC business school, Nicolas Droin has successively held the positions of General Administrator of the Chapelle Royale / Orchestre des Champs-Elysées (musical director, Philippe Herreweghe), Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble (musical director, Marc Minkowski) and Choeur Accentus (musical director, Laurence Equilbey).

He has been the Director General of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris for the last 10 years.

At the head of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, Nicolas Droin has done a remarkable job embedding the orchestra in the city and making the performances accessible to new and remote audiences, while further enhancing the artistic quality of the orchestra by calling on leading music directors such as Thomas Zehetmair, Douglas Boyd and Lars Vogt. The latter unfortunately died recently.
