Nearly three centuries later, conductor Raphaël Pichon and director Claus Guth have brought this libretto, considered sulphurous at the time, back to life. With its powerful drama and striking musical flourishes, this production, premiered at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in 2024, restores the visionary ambition of Rameau and Voltaire.
