Anderson Nunnelley is a director and creative producer working across opera, contemporary music, and experimental film. He most recently directed Berlioz’s Les Troyens at Seattle Opera and co-directed El Relicario de los Animales at Long Beach Opera and is part of the LBO Studio artist program.
He has served on the directing staff at LA Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Seattle Opera, and Boston Lyric Opera, and has revived productions at Pittsburgh Opera and Utah Opera. Additional production credits include Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opera Philadelphia, San Diego Opera, Opera Omaha, the ONE Festival, and the PROTOTYPE Festival.
With a strong focus on new opera, he has collaborated as part of directing teams on several world premieres, including A Thousand Splendid Suns and Blue (Seattle Opera), Proving Up (Opera Omaha), and John Corigliano’s The Lord of Cries (Santa Fe Opera).
His experimentation with acclaimed operatic work in film includes production and art direction for the GRAMMY-nominated film of David T. Little’s Soldier Songs (Opera Philadelphia), creative producer for Svadba (Boston Lyric Opera/Opera Philadelphia), and creative director for the concert series B. (Boston Lyric Opera). He also served on the directing team and as creative producer for a feature-length animated film of Philip Glass’ The Fall of the House of Usher and the trailblazing operatic miniseries desert in (Boston Lyric Opera).
