Founded in 2024, the mission of the American Friends of the Opéra-Comique is to increase awareness in the Americas of the Opéra-Comique’s rich heritage, exceptional repertoire, and groundbreaking programs.  By supporting one of France’s most historic and prestigious cultural institutions, the American Friends helps ensure the Opéra-Comique’s legacy and artistic excellence for future generations.

Support such unique programs as the newly formed Academie for young professionals, the Maitrise Populaire of the Opéra-Comque, an academic and performing arts school for children between the ages of 8 and 24, and Relax sessions, a program allowing access to performances to a public with or physical or psychological disabilities including Autism and Alzheimer’s.

Depending on the level you choose, being an American Friend will give you access to:

  • Priority booking for the best available seats
  • Invitations to rehearsals
  • Backstage tours
  • VIP events in France and the US

Donations to the American Friends of the Opéra-Comique can be made through the Friends of the Foundation of France, a section 501(c)(3) non profit charitable organization. The fee paid gives the donor the same rights as those patrons who pay the fee in Europe in Euros. In addition, the American Friends will have access to dedicated events in New York and soon elsewhere in the US.
