Julie Robard-Gendre began her musical studies at the Nantes Conservatory and then went on to study at the Paris Conservatory of Music and Dance.
She quickly took on leading roles: Prince Charming (Cinderella) in Massy, Angers, and Nantes; Orpheus (Orpheus and Eurydice) in Angers and Nantes; Ramiro (La Finta Giardiniera) at the Aix-en-Provence Festival; the title role in Carmen in Reims and Rennes; and La Périchole in Metz.
In recent years, she made her debut at the Paris Opera in Die Zauberflöte and Les Huguenots, sang Ghita (Der Zwerg) in Caen, Lille, and Rennes, Orphée (Orphée et Eurydice) in Avignon and Liège, Fenena (Nabucco) in Nice and Toulon, La Belle Hélène in Lausanne and Tours, Dulcinée (Don Quichotte) in Tours, and Nefertiti (Akhnaten) in Nice.
Her recent roles include Venus (Tannhäuser) at the Seoul Opera, Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana in Saint-Etienne and then in concert in Bern, The Foreign Princess (Rusalka) in Massy, Sesto (La Clemenza di Tito) in Angers and Nantes, Der Komponist (Ariane à Naxos) in Limoges, Marguerite (La Damnation de Faust by Berlioz) in Erfurt, Herodias (Salomé) at the Metz Opera, Meg Page (Falstaff) in Luxembourg and Caen. She reprised the role of Carmen at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, then in the adaptation La Tragédie de Carmen at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and on tour. She took part in the creation of the show Ophélie hors/champs based on Hamlet in Avignon and at the Théâtre de Belleville. In concert, she sang Mozart's Requiem at the Opéra d'Avignon.
She also recorded the role of Persephone (Ariane de Massenet) with the Bavarian Radio Choir and Orchestra on the Palazzetto Bru Zane label.
This season, she is singing two Philip Glass operas: the roles of Kasturbai/Mrs. Alexander in Satyagraha in Nice and Nefertiti in Akhnaten at the Philharmonie de Paris. She also sings La Vieille Dame in Matthias Pintscher's Nuit sans Aube for her debut at the Opéra-Comique, Urgèle in Charles Silver's La Belle au Bois Dormant at the Opéra de Saint-Etienne, and the title role in La Belle Hélène at the Opéra d'Avignon. She will also be heard in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Avignon Orchestra.
