Coups de roulis
The artists of the Opéra Comique company were among the first performers to be hired by the emerging film industry, from silent movies inspired by standards of the repertoire to musical films that took advantage of the Opéra Comique successes. Today the Opéra Comique offers you to explore, together with Benoît Duteurtre, opera in cinema. The programing enables you to revive the emotions of a screening in a historic theater and discover forgotten or recently restored masterpieces.

Coups de roulis, screenplay based on a libretto by Albert Willemetz
At the acme of his political responsibilities, a French deputy embarks on a battleship maneuvering in the Mediterranean with his daughter who serves as his assistant. In contact with naval officers and in ports of call, sentimental rolls follow one another. The operetta written by Albert Willemetz and André Messager was so successful from 1928 onward that by 1931 it was adapted into a film that featured actors and vocalists of the Opéra Comique.
