Before occupying the theater for one month of rehearsal, the Kein Licht team met the team of the Opéra Comique. Then, they will fold the stage sets into containers and head for the Ruhrtriennale in Germany for the world premiere of the production on 25 August 2017.
Philippe Manoury, the composer of this ‘thinkspiel’, thanked Olivier Mantei, the director of the Opéra Comique, for supporting contemporary creation. The production gives pride of place to the temporality of contemporary drama and explores the domains of real time and musical computing. Kein Licht was awarded the Fedora Prize for opera in 2016, an international reward for the renewal and creativity of opera.
A commission from the Opéra Comique to Philippe Manoury staged by Nicolas Stemann and based on a text by Elfriede Jelinek, Kein Licht and its team will return to the Opéra Comique from 22 through 22 October before touring Europe.
