Since last Monday the Opéra Comique has been living to the rhythm of the rehearsals of Miranda. The first vocal warm-up exercises can be heard, Purcell’s music is echoing in the walls and the vocalists are coming to grips with the play devised by Katie Mitchell and Raphaël Pichon – with the collaboration of librettist Cordelia Lynn – based on Shakespeare. Miranda or how to give life to the only female character of The Tempest.
For the first time, the pupils of the Maîtrise populaire participate in an operatic production at the Opéra Comique. Three of them are in the cast: Margot, Rosalie and Marius, the latter playing the part of Anthony alternately with Aksel Rykkvin.
First rehearsals with professional vocalists, first emotions and a shared ambition: to make this production an unforgettable experience.
