Introduce your children to the joys of the opera!

Young spectators are welcome at the Opéra Comique. We have many performances and events for them throughout the season:

  • a festival for families with presentations of the performances, musical introductions, meetings with artists before or after performances
  • performances for children 6 and up
  • open house days with games and activities for the whole family
  • discounted prices for children and adults alike

To help you choose appropriate performances:

From 6 years old:

  • Hansel and Gretel
  • Petite balade aux enfers (A little stroll to hell)
  • Contes chinois (Chinese tales)

From 8 years old:

  • Contes du temps qui passe
  • Mécanopéra
  • Chansons à partager (Songs to share)

For older children:

The following operas have themes that are appropriate for children ten years and up:

  • Le Postillon de Lonjumeau
  • Madame Favart
  • Ercole amante/Hercule amoureux (Hercules in love)

For young parents:

Relaxed Sundays (Dimanches Relax) allow you to come to performances with your baby:

  • Hansel and Gretel : Sunday, February 10th at 3:00 pm
  • Contes du temps qui passe : Sunday, May 26th at 3:00 pm
  • Ercole amante/Hercule amoureux (Hercules in love) : Sunday, November 10th at 3:00 pm

The 2019 season



With the Carte Mainate, children have a privileged access to the Opéra Comique. They enjoy a 50% discount and their parents a 10% discount on all the programing* for a convivial family outing. Seats in ‘family boxes’ near the exits are also available.
