This eighteenth century opera ballet was a total show. The 1739 creation celebrated the virtuosity of ballet, songs, ensemble and orchestra with its transforming decor and amorous, rather than mythological, intrigues. Rameau really displayed his genius and won a resounding triumph.

Hébé, goddess of youth, cannot bear Mount Olympus anymore and decides to sample human pleasures on the banks of the river Seine.

In her honour, Love organises three performances, each showcasing the power of youth over hearts when combined with « lyrical talent » – poetry, music or dance. Sapho, Iphise and Eglé are the heroines of these sung and danced scenes.
